What I need to get started
To start I shall need at least 2-3 sharply focused photographs that show off the subject to the fullest. For pets, I find it best to take these photos in daylight at eye-level or above with good eye contact. For people, a fairly close up and sharply focused photo will do. I do not expect you to be a professional photographer, just a careful one. Make sure to label the photos well and mail them to my studio. It would also be a good idea to speak with me via phone or e-mail about the subject: i.e. the name, funny stories, favorite toys or hobbies.
How to pay
Once I have accepted your commission and all the specifics are clear the contract will be put in writing, signed by me and mailed to you. I will require a 50% non-refundable deposit. Once the portrait is complete I will contact you for the remaining balance which will include shipping and insurance. I will accept personal cheques, postal money orders and PayPal payments. For commissions from outside of the United States payments should be made through PayPal only. All payments must be cleared by my bank before starting and shipping.
Finish time
It usually takes 3 to 5 weeks from start to finish, "finish" meaning dry enough to ship. If you are giving the portrait as a gift and have a specific date in mind please make the request well in advance to allow enough drying time. Around the holidays I will be quite busy so the sooner you commission me the better!
